Romeoville launches 2024 Operation Christmas to help local families in need

Romeoville Mayor John Noak | Village of Romeoville

Romeoville has announced its 2024 Operation Christmas initiative to assist local families in need during the holiday season.

According to the announcement, Operation Christmas is an effort that supports local families by providing gifts for their children through contributions from residents, businesses, and organizations. Interested families are required to supply a wish list of gifts for each child. Local participants can then adopt a family and purchase the items on the wish list.

Families seeking assistance must register online. Priority will be given to new families and those who have participated in the program fewer than three times previously. Families that have been recipients three times or more will be placed on a waiting list. Once funds and donations are received, recipients will be selected and notified in early December, with pick-up details provided subsequently.

To participate, families must present proof of residency, children's ages, valid Social Security cards for the family, and proof of need, including participation in either the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) or Women, Infants, and Children (WIC).

Individuals wishing to adopt a family must register by Wednesday, November 20. Participants will receive information about their paired family via email between November 21 and 27.
