Crews in Romeoville are responding to storm damage following the August 19 weather event. As of 7:42 PM, Romeo Road is closed in both directions at Homer near the ComEd right of way due to storm debris and downed power lines.
There are numerous downed power wires and trees throughout the community. Village crews are prioritizing the most hazardous situations and working to clear roads as quickly as possible. Public Works teams will be using a chipper to help residents dispose of tree branches from their property. Residents are asked to bring branches to the curb without blocking streets or sidewalks, as cleanup efforts will continue over the next several days.
More rain is expected, and residents who need shelter because of power outages can go to the Romeoville Police Station at 1050 W Romeo Road.
Those experiencing power outages related to ComEd service can call 1-800-EDISON1, visit ComEd.com, or use the ComEd App to report issues. Residents may also sign up for outage alerts for updates on affected areas and restoration status. More information about reporting outages and registering for alerts is available on the ComEd Outage Map.
The village urges everyone to stay away from downed electrical wires and trees. Crews and emergency responders continue working safely and efficiently. "Our crews and emergency responders are working as quickly and as safely as possible. Thank you for your caution and cooperation."
