Romeoville increases property tax rebate for homeowners in second year

The Village of Romeoville has announced the return of its Property Tax Rebate program for a second consecutive year. The initiative offers an increased rebate amount, with qualifying residential property owners eligible to receive $80 toward the Village portion of their property tax bill. This is a rise from last year's rebate.

Applications for the program will be accepted from September 2 through December 1, 2025. Residents can apply online at romeoville.org during this period and must submit a copy of their 2024 property tax bill as part of the process. Eligibility is limited to owner-occupied, single-family residential properties located within the municipal boundaries of Romeoville. Commercial and rental properties do not qualify.

Applicants must have paid their 2024 property tax bill in full and be current on all other payments owed to the Village. All applications are subject to approval.

Approved applicants will receive their $80 rebate by February 1, 2026, either as a check or as a credit on their water bill. According to village officials, only about 10 percent of a typical property tax bill goes to the Village of Romeoville; the rest is distributed among other taxing bodies.
