Joliet Catholic Academy has announced that Ava Tomich, a 2020 alumna, will be the new Head Dance Coach. Tomich, a former member of the State Championship Team, returns to the academy with significant expertise and familiarity with its traditions.

Jim O’Brien, Joliet Catholic Academy’s Athletic Director, spoke about the appointment, stating, “We are very excited to welcome back one of our own! As a 2020 alum and member of a State Championship Team, she understands the rich tradition of our dance program and has the passion, along with a deep connection to the team.”

Since September 2024, Tomich has served as the Assistant Varsity Dance Team Coach at Joliet Catholic Academy. Her tenure has seen a positive impact on the team, and she welcomes the opportunity to further influence the team as the Head Coach.

Tomich expressed her enthusiasm, saying, “I am so honored to step into the role of Head Coach for the Varsity Dance Team. As a 2020 JCA graduate and former member of the 2019 State Champion Dance Team, this program holds a very special place in my heart. Dance has always been an amazing part of my life, and I am thrilled to lead such a talented group of athletes. I’m looking forward to building a strong, supportive team culture and helping each dancer grow both on and off the floor.”

Tomich has a Bachelor of Science degree in Merchandising, Apparel and Textiles from the University of Kentucky. She is currently working as the Social Media Manager for Dr. Jack’s Dental Lounge in Chicago. Her previous roles include Dance Choreographer and Head Greek Sing Coach for the Alpha Phi Sorority, as well as various positions in social media, design, marketing, sales, and merchandising.
