The Village of Romeoville's Finance Department has been awarded the Excellence in Financial Reporting Award for the 11th consecutive year. The award was bestowed by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada in recognition of Romeoville's comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR) for the fiscal year ending April 30, 2024.
The CAFR was deemed to meet the high standards required by the association's program, highlighting a "spirit of full disclosure" intended to clearly communicate the village's financial story.
The Certificate of Achievement is regarded as the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting. Receiving this award is considered a significant accomplishment for any government and its management.
Mayor John Noak commented on the achievement, stating, "Financial transparency in government is of the utmost importance," and expressed pride in the finance department's consistent excellence. He noted that the presentation of their yearly finances, available online for public review, has been consistently acknowledged by third-party evaluations.
The Government Finance Officers Association supports excellence in government finance by offering best practices, professional development, and resources to over 25,000 members and the communities they serve.
