O’Hara Woods Nature Preserve will be temporarily closed from September 15 to September 19 to allow for ecological maintenance. The conservation area, located within the community, is undergoing work aimed at improving forest health and biodiversity.

The planned activities include removing excess downed woody material and thinning trees in areas where they are densely packed. According to the announcement, these efforts are intended to create a balanced ecosystem with healthy organic matter on the forest floor, suitable tree density, and greater diversity of herbaceous plants. Clearing dead wood and allowing more sunlight to reach the ground layer are expected to help understory vegetation grow.

Work is scheduled to start on September 8. During the closure period, Village staff, the Village Ecologist, and representatives from The Conservation Foundation will carry out maintenance tasks.

"We appreciate your understanding and support as we work to preserve and protect this vital natural resource for generations to come," stated the release.
